The Pumpkin Pie @ The Place
Best for a romantic dinner for a special occasion
Unlike some cocktails, this one actually tastes exactly how it sounds and somehow isn’t overwhelming. In fact, it feels refreshingly flavorful and notably devoid of the added sugar and chemicals found in most kitschy-titled drinks. There are only four ingredients, but the quality of each is stand-out: crop organic pumpkin vodka, spiced apple cider and a dash of amaretto finished off with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Bonus Drink* Fall Tickler- Makers Mark, St. Germain, grapefruit juice and a sprig of fresh rosemary!
Cold Buttered Rum @ Booker & Dax,.
Best for kicking off or tying up that 3rd date (take note, boys! This place is a closer)
Reflecting the immaculate sense of taste served up next door, Booker & Dax delivers in cocktails what Momofuku delivers in food. The Cold Buttered Rum is the perfect transition drink from the warmer days of September to the cooler nights of October. The drink is comprised of rich, smooth dark rum balanced by creamy vanilla chai and topped with the perfect tart lemon meringue foam.
The "Ginger Smash" @ Cafe Tallulah
Upper West Side
Best for a romantic date or 1:1 drinks with a friend to kick off a Saturday night
Taking a seat at the bar at Café Tallulah is like slipping into the leisurely decadence of a time gone by. Along with impeccable design and service comes the Ginger Smash Cocktail, a fall creation made of Cana Brava rum, Luxardo Maraschino and Berentzen Apple liquor. Notes of summertime in the form of fresh pineapple chunks and sliced ginger root keep the palette fresh and a dash of lemon juice tops it all off perfectly. If the term “local’s summer” had a drink, I think this would be New York’s.
Apple Pie Moonshine @ Jacob’s Pickles
Upper West Side
Best for family style and drinks with friends
The Apple Pie Moonshine at Jacob’s Pickles perfectly envelopes the vibe of this wood-laden upper west side hang. A crafty homemade gem served up in none-other than a mason jar, the cocktail is a secret moonshine recipe of delicious spices that add a layer of smokiness to it, made complete with fresh, pressed apples. Truly, what says fall more than apple pie!?
The "Diki Diki" at The Penrose
Upper East Side
Best for going out with friends or a first date - it's lively and super welcoming
Take a break from the mayhem that is the Upper East Side's subway construction and head into The Penrose for a Diki Diki. Initially debuting on their summer cocktail list, the Diki Diki has received a fall makeover to make it one of those perfect seasonal transition drinks. The cocktail is a mix of Applejack Brandy, Demerara Syrup, Swedish Punch and a dash of grapefruit & lemon juice - but it's the "Swedish Punch," made up of well-rounded spices like cloves and cardamom, that really brings this beauty to life.
